Strategic Planning for Nonprofits - Step 1

September 20, 2017

As you may already know, the strategic planning process comes in many flavors.  There is no single model that can be used for all organizations.  The model presented here, consists of 10 steps. These steps can be customized to suit the specific needs of the various organizations.  The approach used in presenting each step, is done in the form of a case study. The case is fictional, but the process is nonfiction. The case is about a nonprofit who wants to go through a strategic planning process. There are two main players: Sharron, that would be me, who represents the consultant, and Kimberly who represents the client. Kimberly plays the role of the board president. In this video, Kimberly and I will be discussing step one. The remaining steps will be covered in future videos.
